I love drugs

Some days, it's all I can do to roll out of bed and plop onto the couch.

Other days, all I can eat is half a banana.

Most days I'm able to function at about 70%.

Today is not most days.

My miracle drug Zofran was originally designed for chemotherapy patients and used to be extremely expensive, almost $100 a pill when first released. Thanks to the generic version, Ondansetron*, there's now $.50 a pill and a LIFE SAVER! I know pharmaceutical companies get a bad rap, but I am thankful when they make medcine more affordable so people can get better faster and continue to push the economy forward by going to work.

Ultimately I was hoping to be done with the nausea by now. My next appointment is May 28th - lets see if I'm better by then.

*Ondansetron (INN) is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used mainly as an antiemetic (to treat nausea and vomiting), often following chemotherapy. Its effects are thought to be on both peripheral and central nerves. Ondansetron reduces the activity of the vagus nerve, which deactivates the vomiting center in the medulla oblongata, and also blocks serotonin receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone. It has little effect on vomiting caused by motion sickness, and does not have any effect on dopamine receptors or muscarinic receptors.
